Hello, my name is Angela Han. I am Miss Northern British Columbia World 2018. I am 22 years old from the beautiful City of Prince George. I am honored to represent British Columbia to compete for the Miss World Canada title this July!
Five years ago I moved from Vancouver to Prince George to pursue a peaceful rustic lifestyle. I studied English and Political Science at the University of Northern British Columbia and was graduated on May 25th, 2018.
From 2014 – 2018, I was elected the president of UNBC Fencing Club and was engaged to stimulate the interests of fencing in the Prince George Community.
Passionate about nature, the move to the North was a natural fit for me. With encouragement and support from friends and family, I thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in 2016. The trail spans 2650 miles from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon, and Washington. My thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail was one of the most beautiful, unique, profound and breathtaking journeys of my life.
In my free times, I love playing piano, fencing, traveling, hiking, dancing, diving, painting, and horse riding…etc. I love volunteering and raising funds for different causes such as providing remote villages with fresh water, to restore local school equipment and to raise awareness of environmental degradation around the globe. I am a volunteer for the Pacific Crest Trail Association, a member of the Stepping Stones Charity Organization in Shanghai, and the ambassador of the “Children’s Villages” in Dalian, China.
I also take pride in achieving academic excellence and will pursuing a Master’s degree of Museum Study later this year at Harvard Universtiy. By entering the pageant, I want to bring out the best of myself – inside and out. Winning or not, it will always be a fun and precious memory in my life.
My “Beauty with a Purpose” project is to create a home for the minor children of the incarcerated parents in China, Canada and the rest of the world. I would like to use Miss World Canada and Miss World as my platform to promote and to expand the idea of “Children’s Village” to every corner of the world and to raise awareness of vulnerable children protection and education. During the Miss World Canada national competition, I will be fundraising for the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada. Each year, tens of thousands are being raised by Miss World Canada delegates to fulfill some of the most complex wishes imaginable in British Columbia and the rest of Canada (http://www.childrenswish.ca/partners/).
In the past ten years, my team “Children’s Village” has provided humanitarian assistance to hundreds of vulnerable children in Dalian, China. As one of the promoters, volunteers, donors, and now the ambassador of the “Children’s Villiage”, my goal is to evolve sustainable, replicable inclusive models of quality criminal child-centered school programmes in partnership with marginalized communities and government to advocate them to the larger systems.
Miss World Canada for me is not to compete with each other, but a journey to better myself and to help the people around me to better themselves.
Winning or not, Miss World Canada will always be a unique, fun and one of the most beautiful experiences in my life.
I’m looking forward to sharing this wonderful journey with you on my blog, Facebook, and Instagram. Thank you very much for following!
