Hi, my name is Natasha, I’m 21 years old and was honored to be crowned Miss British Columbia World 2018. I am so excited to be flying to Toronto this July to compete for the title of Miss World Canada 2018! It has always been a dream of mine to win the national title and to be able to wear the Canada sash representing our beautiful country on an international stage.
I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia. My family and I are very close and love to travel as well as experience new adventures together. I have 2 older siblings and my cat Pierre (AKA my furry little brother). My grandmother was born in Poland so I was fortunate enough to learn to speak a bit of Polish and the traditions of my heritage. One thing I love about my family is we all have a sense of humor. I can honestly say no matter where we are there is never a dull moment!
I’m a 4th year student studying Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University with a goal of pursuing a career as a surgeon, specializing in cardiology or neurology. I am planning to take the MCAT next summer and apply to medical school in the fall 2019 . I’ve always loved gaining knowledge and I am not ashamed to say that I love being a nerd. I’ve always wanted a career that challenges myself mentally while allowing me to help others at the same time. Being a doctor will allow me to do just that and so much more.
When I’m not at school I work part-time as a server at the Keg Steakhouse Bar and Grill. I absolutely love my job and the people I work with. We are one big family and I feel very lucky and thankful to be a part of it.
At the age of eight I was enrolled in karate. My dad wanted to make sure that as a girl, I could defend myself both physically and mentally. I quickly learned the journey to achieving a black belt would not be easy. It took six years of dedication to achieve my goal. Karate not only taught me the self-defense but also discipline, mental strength, and determination. It has been these attributes that I have carried forward into my everyday life. I always believe that it does not matter “if you fall down seven times, as long as you stand up eight”.
The performing arts have also played a huge role in my life. Since I was young I always loved being on stage (surprise surprise). I have danced competitively in various genres such as lyrical, jazz, tap, and hip-hop. I was even honored a spot on an elite Hip Hop International team and was able to compete at the regional competition in 2016. Dance has always been apart of me as it allowed me a brain break from reality. I have also performed in several musical theatre productions and completed a masters professional acting program.
When I’m not studying or working I love volunteering in any way I can in my community (stay tuned to hear more about the volunteer work I’ve done). I love spending time with my family and friends, as well some of my fondest memories are going camping where there is no texting or social media, just nature, our stories, the campfire, and we cannot forget about those smores! I love reading, working out at the gym, traveling and found a new interest and with my dad … target shooting.
Thank you for taking the time in reading my blog and getting to know a little bit about me. If you would like to know more please follow my journey.
Until Next Time,
Miss British Columbia World 2018
