I am Anmol Minhas, 25 years old, and proud to be representing my home country, Canada, in Miss World Canada 2019. I was born in Edmonton, although I was raised in New Delhi, India. I was a very outspoken child, always curious, and loved creating. There was a point I couldn’t stop making our walls art, my dad eventually painted the whole wall black so that I could trace designs out of the color that hid within. My strength of seeing beauty within a gloomy situation has remained. I have been fortunate to have be raised in an environment surrounded by givers and the principal of giving; from the day I was born, to the day I first went to school, to my graduation day.
My parents have always taught me, we make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give. Not only were these values always spoken, I could see them in true form through action such as when my mother started an NGO for the education of young girls in 2011. We provide free education, mid-day meals and stationaries all over India and remote parts of the world. During my involvement, I was learning what was true in this world such as differentiating wisdom from knowledge. Working with these young girls also taught me imagination over structure and the ability of working with like-minded people brought focus on others. I had a desire to use the hands giving to me in balance, helping myself with the left and others with the right. With a massive response of support, we created an unbelievable team of numerous volunteers and staff. I am also ecstatic to say that I grew up as a nerd and perfectionist. My competitive nature was present in all passions and pastimes of my younger years in my academics, international classical dance, basketball, cadets, and beauty pageants. I’ve always taken my education seriously, and believe it to be an essential focus in today’s day and age.
I have completed my bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communication from Amity University followed by my Masters in Fashion Journalism, Dual Degree with Domuc Academy, Milan where I earned top scholar in both universities, and now currently completing an executive MBA from the University of British Columbia. I started working in public relations and ran projects for brands like Honda, Samsung, Amazon etc, after which I then took on Digital writing at Cosmopolitan in Delhi at which I managed and created social media strategies. In 2015. I moved back to Canada where I immediately started implementing my diverse set of skills in the communication sector working with Ledcor Group of Companies and Telus as both a manager and mediator.
I currently have the privileged responsibility of running the largest team of sales representatives within Ledcor Sales, while instilling core principals and creating an environment for growth and success. With leadership comes great responsibility. I continue to pour into others everyday as my mentors have done for me, and always focus on bringing value that can be applicable in our forward moving society.
