Miss World Canada’s official charity is The Children’s Wish Foundation. It is a great charity and is the largest and only all-Canadian wish granting charity dedicated to granting wishes to Canadian children between the ages of 3 and 17 who are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. For more than 30 years, Children’s Wish has worked tirelessly to grant heartfelt wishes to nearly 25,000 children and their families – that’s three wishes each and every day, all year long!
Children’s Wish has offices and staff in every province, and each wish family is assigned a dedicated Wish Coordinator who is able to carefully structure each heartfelt wish experience to meet the particular needs of the child and their family. Travel wishes include all siblings 21 years and under living in the same household. Wish referrals increase year over year, and the Children’s Wish Foundation is proud to maintain our ‘no waiting list’ policy, thanks to generous donors.
I have been in contact with Nikki from The Children’s Wish Foundation British Columbia and Yukon Chapter who has informed me that in the Kelowna region, there are 13 pending wishes as of right now. Pending means that the 13 wishes are in the various stages of booking, such as the families haven’t decided where to go, waiting until the child is older or the right time of year. On average, a wish costs $10,000 each!
As Miss BC World 2017, I have been busy fundraising for the charity and have almost reached my goal. I have reached out to co-workers, friends, family and have been overwhelmed with the response I’ve received. Thank you to all of you who have donated so far! I’ve also made up donation jars and located them at various locations around Kelowna and handed out cards with The Children’s Wish Foundation information at the various public events I’ve attended.
If you’re reading this and want to donate too – please contact me at email@example.com.
Thank you so much!!
