I  was so honoured to be part of the Little Black Dress Gala on May 26th, at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. What an amazing event for me as Miss BC World to attend, which was attended by around 1000 guests from the Vancouver area.

The Little Black Dress Gala was a gathering for socially minded individuals with heart for giving back and seeing change happen in the city of Vancouver. The Gala showcased opera, dance and a large fashion show with many Vancouver designers who came together to share their work and meet with like-minded individuals.

It is also a fundraiser for the organization called Help Change My City which helps underprivileged youth in downtown Vancouver. They are a young community, intentionally designed with mentorship character development, personal growth, leadership and skills training at its core. They are dedicated to breaking down the negative reputation and stigma that surrounds young people who have had a difficult and troubled past.

The opportunity to attend was also offered to single mothers or struggling women from the downtown core of Vanc0uver by other guests, who donated tickets for them. A “little black dress” was also available for them to wear, so they too felt special at this wonderful event.

Being part of the Little Black Dress Gala was such a truly unique and fantastic experience. I was so inspired by the people in the city of Vancouver and how everyone came together to raise money for such an amazing cause.

On May 6, 2017,  I was very excited to attend a Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Gala Event.

The proceeds  at the Spring Beauty Gala went to local women’s health organizations in Kelowna, BC.  Shoppers Drug Mart plays a large role in community investment. The Shoppers LOVE YOU program helps connect women to women’s health organizations and health initiatives across Canada. Over the past five years, Shoppers Drug Mart has been putting women’s health first by contributing more than $57 million to local, regional, and national women’s health initiatives.

It was such a fun event, there were refreshments, snacks, and a henna artist. I had a lot of fun doing makeovers on many amazing women. I truly believe that all women are beautiful and a bit of makeup can really accentuate the beauty of any woman.

Thanks to the lovely ladies at Shoppers Drug Mart in Kelowna, who are such a wonderful and supportive team! I had a great time doing many makeovers and meeting many new inspirational women.

I thought maybe I’d list a few facts about myself to let you know a little bit more about me!

I am 5″8 tall.

I grew up in the most amazing, beautiful town of Jasper, Alberta, which is also located in a national park. I grew up in the tourism industry at my family’s resort, so I have been conversing with people from all over the world and giving travel advice all my life!

My Hometown – Jasper, Alberta

Since I’ve met so many international travelers, I caught the “travel bug” and have travelled to over 25 countries. I love exploring new cultures and exciting destinations.

My favorite color is pink.

I am a very family orientated person, my family means everything to me.

I have two siblings, an older sister who has her psychology degree and a younger brother in geological engineering at the University of Victoria, both whom I’m so proud of.

I am a HUGE animal lover.  I grew up with dogs, cats, bunnies, hamsters, you name it!

I despise pickles.

I would way rather spend any day on top of a mountain than at a shopping mall.

I am not one bit scared of spiders.

My favorite movie is Forest Gump.

I am 6th generation Canadian and am of British and German descent.

The first man I loved was Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie “Titanic.”

I attended two universities and also fashion school – MacEwan University in Edmonton and Capilano University in North Vancouver and Blanche MacDonald Centre in downtown Vancouver.

I don’t have any tattoos or piercings besides my ears. Aka, I have a very low pain tolerance!

I am very easy going, love to laugh and always up for a new adventure.

I love to garden.

I prefer snow over rain, any day.

My favorite drink is: Iced Soy Lattes with Vanilla and Peppermint flavor

My favorite food is: my mom’s cooking!

Travelling is a huge passion of mine! I love to explore the many different cultures and areas that this large world of ours includes.  I’ve been to over 25 countries, sometimes travelling with family and friends but I’ve also travelled independently and on my own.

I lived on the Gold Coast of Australia on a student exchange when I was 16.  I was an aupair in the south of France a year ago and recently I toured Asia. Each time was such an adventure as were all of the countries I visited!

Khao Sok National Park, Thailand

Nice, France.

Plus I have other hobbies I am passionate about!

Dancing competitively in my youth and teen years encouraged my love for dance and the performing arts. I have danced  across Western Canada and won many awards and scholarships. I have danced for University of Alberta, Alberta Cheer Empire, North Shore Performing Arts Studio plus with Jasper Dance and the Hinton School of Dance.

I also enjoy volunteering, animals, art, biking, skiing, hiking, sports, and I value the importance of living a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Hi there,

My name is Natalie. I am twenty three years old and live in Kelowna, BC. On March 26, 2017,  I won the Miss British Columbia World 2017 pageant, which was held in Vancouver. I am so thrilled and honored. The pageant weekend was so much fun! I met so many new friends from across British Columbia, who were so kind and I was very impressed by all of their interesting platforms. The pageant was very well organized and I am so happy that I was able to be apart of the pageant.

The next step for me will be to represent British Columbia at the 2017 Miss World Canada Pageant. The pageant will be held from July 16-23, 2017 in Toronto, Ontario. There will be many contestants from all over the country competing for the title. All contestants will arrive a week early to prepare for the final areas of competition, which consist of nine categories: Evening Gown, Overall Impression, Swimsuit/Fitness, Beauty With a Purpose Project, Marketing/Social Media, Fundraising Efforts, Personal Interview, and Photogenic. I am pleased to be representing the province of BC at the 2017 Miss World Canada Pageant.

If I was chosen as the winner of the Miss World Canada pageant I will go on to represent Canada at the 2017 Miss World Pageant, that will be held in China. The Miss World Pageant is the oldest running international beauty pageant. Miss World is also one of the three most publicized beauty pageants in the world. Since its launch in 1951, the Miss World Organization has raised more than $250 million dollars for children’s charities that help disabled and underprivileged children. Miss World is franchised in more that 100  countries.

The Miss World Canada has chosen The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada as its official charity and I will be fund-raising for it until I go to Miss World Canada.  I have also chosen as my Beauty With a Purpose platform to support the Look Good Feel Better organization which has been operating for 25 years in Canada, and has 26 sister organization throughout the world.  I’ll be volunteering at the Look Good Feel Better  workshops in my home city, which give makeovers and teaches beauty techniques to women who are battling cancer which allows them to feel some normalcy in a life that is by no means normal.

I am very excited to be representing the beautiful province of British Columbia!

Please stay tuned for more posts into my journey.

-Natalie 🙂
